The idea is really interesting. I confess that the first time I played, I had no idea it was possible to merge circles with the same number. So, that was an unexpected mechanic that really took me by surprise and, in fact, increased my engagement with the game.
You did a great job using the theme and the shape limitations, everything aligns well with the gameās concept. During gameplay, I did feel the lack of background music, even something subtle, as it would have added more life to the game. And of course, sound effects (like when we merge two circles with the same number) would have been a nice touch.
Still on the topic of merging two circles with the same number, it might have been cool to add small particles when that happens, or perhaps even a slight screen shake to make the action feel more impactful.
I believe the lack of these features was due to time constraints, but itās always a good idea to try and add at least something sound-related to the core mechanics of our games, as it can significantly enhance immersion and satisfaction.
For a score-based game, I think I didnāt do too badly haha, 1600 points. It made me want to challenge myself again after I understood the mechanics better, and ironically, my lack of skill actually shone through, and I ended up scoring lower than I did when I had less experience. Funny, right?
Congratulations on the game, and good luck with the jam!
