Hello Baldi's Fun New School series players, and welcome to this special post for the 4 year anniversary of Baldi's Fun New School Remastered!

As part of the celebration of 4 years of BFNS Remastered, I'll be going through the version history of the mod, and share some plans regarding a version history retrospective video series! Without further ado, let's get started!

Version History

  • 1.0 (Released August 5th, 2021) - After approximately 2 months of development from June to August 2021, the first public version of BFNS Remastered was released. The mod launched with a total of 8 modes, which would later be expanded to 15 over time. A trailer was also uploaded for this version prior to it's release on August 1st.
  • 1.1 (Released August 8th, 2021) - The first major update, this version brought some improvements, changed the appearance of the selectable players, added Zolt, a multiplayer maze in the Discussion Area, and a new ending. This version was followed up by a 1.1.1 hotfix update a few days later on August 10th, which fixed a bug with the then newly added multiplayer maze.
  • 1.2 (Released August 18th, 2021) - The second major update, this version added Cloudy Copter to the Fun Schoolhouse (which is what the main "remastered" schoolhouse in BFNS Remastered is now being referred to as in retrospect), the Book Of Found Items on the main menu, the Chewsi Speedy Bar and An Apple For Baldi items, a minimap, and a Safety Scissors vending machine. This was also the first version where players could submit suggestions for the next major update in a formal way.
  • 1.3 (Released August 27th, 2021) - The third major update, this version was the first to start adding new modes, with Portal Chaos being added in this update. This version also added Kyle as a selectable player, Joe on the main menu next to Baldi, and a day night mode setting.
  • 1.4 (Released September 26th, 2021) - The fourth and final major update to BFNS Remastered, this version added more fan-arts, some new posters, Rapparep Lol as a selectable player, Random Event Madness as a new gamemode, bringing the total to 10, and some other additions. A week later, on October 3rd, a 1.4.1 bugfix update (and the first 1.4 sub-update) for the mobile version was released, and this would be the last update to BFNS Remastered until mid-2022.
  • 1.4.2 (Released May 6th, 2022) - The second 1.4 sub-update, this version resumed updates for BFNS Remastered after approximately 7 months, and added the Student Race gamemode, updated the mod's Unity version from 2021.1 to 2021.3, and added the Random Event Machine from the Alpha 6 2 Floor Demo of BFNS Ultimate.
  • 1.4.3 (Released May 14th, 2022) - The third 1.4 sub-update, this version added Game Jolt integration into BFNS Remastered with earnable trophies and leaderboards, the Classic Mode gamemode and a new ending, and controller support as well. A 1.4.3.1 bugfix update was also released for this version a day later on May 15th, which fixed some bugs, made some changes, and added 3 more Game Jolt trophies.
  • 1.4.4 (Released July 10th, 2022) - The fourth 1.4 sub-update, this version marked the return of an item from the original BFNS, the Principal Banner, added 5 more Game Jolt trophies, a cursor management button on the main menu, the Genuine Mode gamemode (bringing the total up to 13), and a new character, Dis Guiser.
  • V1.4.5 "Anniversary Update" (Released August 5th, 2022) - The fifth 1.4 sub-update and the first of 2 "named" updates (the second and last being the 1.4.6 "Halloween Update"), this version was released to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of BFNS Remastered, and added a new gamemode called Celebration Mode, collectible party hats in other modes as part of unlocking the then new party themed mode, a new ending, some bug fixes, and party hats that appear on other players while playing in the Discussion Area between August 5th and 12th (and this still happens every year, meaning if you were to play BFNS Remastered's discussion area right now, you would see this!).
  • V1.4.5.1 (Released August 20th, 2022) - An update to 1.4.5, this version added a "view save file" button to the main menu, lockers to the Classic Mode schoolhouse, and some other changes and bug fixes.
  • V1.4.6 "Halloween Update" (Released October 31st, 2022) - The sixth and second to last 1.4 sub-update, and the second of 2 "named" updates, this version was released on Halloween 2022 and added a Spooky Mode setting to the main menu which changed some things in the Fun Schoolhouse to Halloween themed versions, updated the design of some posters, doors, and achievement icons, and fixed 2 bugs.
  • V1.4.7 (Released January 27th, 2023) - A few months after 1.4.6, in early 2023, a trailer for the 1.4.7 update was uploaded, followed by the update's release a week later. This version was the seventh and last 1.4 sub-update released, bringing updates for BFNS Remastered to an end, and added 2 modes (Field Trip and Mazetastic) for a total of 15 modes (not 16 since the former Camping mode was merged into Field Trip Mode), 9 more Game Jolt trophies bringing the final amount to 43, some secrets, and an updated version of Joe's design.
  • V1.4.8 (Cancelled, Was Planned To Be Released In 2025) - Although never released, this version was planned to be released sometime after 1.4.7. However, after some early development on the update began in 2024/2025, it ended up being cancelled due to several reasons (such as BFNS Ultimate's development taking priority and the announcement and start of work on a sequel, BFNS Remastered 2). However, some of the content originally planned for 1.4.8, such as a NULL mode and Discussion Area improvements, is now planned to be included in Baldi's Fun New School Remastered 2, which is set to include improved versions of some of the modes from BFNS Remastered 1 in it (such as Student Race), along with some new modes as well.

Before I end off the version history section of this anniversary post, I would like to share some development images of the now cancelled BFNS Remastered 1.4.8 update, so everyone can get a look at it for the first and last time.

Now that we've gone through the entire version history of Baldi's Fun New School Remastered, it's time to discuss my plans for a version history retrospective video series on the mod!

Version Retrospective Video Series

So, as part of the 4 year anniversary celebration of BFNS Remastered, I was planning on doing a version retrospective video series, where I would have gone through most of the versions I've just discussed such as 1.0, 1.2, etc, with a video per version starting with a short overview of the version at the video's beginning, followed by gameplay of the version for the rest of the video.

Due to delays and other unforeseen issues that have occurred, those videos are now planned for the 5th anniversary of BFNS Remastered in 2026. Here's a look at the schedule for when these videos are planned to be uploaded, so you won't miss when the next one is released! Video links will be added on the planned BFNS Remastered 5th anniversary celebration post when the videos become available on the BFNS Series Central YT channel.

  • 1.0 - The Beginning (5 Years Of BFNS Remastered!) [Planned For August 5th, 2026]
  • 1.1 - The First Major Update (5 Years Of BFNS Remastered!) [Planned For August 6th, 2026]
  • 1.2 - Cloudy & Chewsi Bars (5 Years Of BFNS Remastered!) [Planned For August 7th, 2026]
  • 1.4 - The Final Major Update (5 Years Of BFNS Remastered!) [Planned For August 8th, 2026]
  • 1.4.2 - Student Races (5 Years Of BFNS Remastered!) [Planned For August 10th, 2026]
  • 1.4.3 - Return Of A Classic (5 Years Of BFNS Remastered!) [Planned For August 11th, 2026]
  • 1.4.4 - Genuinely Fun (5 Years Of BFNS Remastered!) [Planned For August 12th, 2026]
  • 1.4.5 - One Year Later (5 Years Of BFNS Remastered!) [Planned For August 13th, 2026]
  • 1.4.6 - Spooky Scary Schools (5 Years Of BFNS Remastered!) [Planned For August 14th, 2026]
  • 1.4.7 - The End (5 Years Of BFNS Remastered!) [Planned For August 15th, 2026]

Conclusion

With Baldi's Fun New School Remastered turning 4 this year, I want to thank everyone who made the creation of BFNS Remastered possible, gave me the motivation to create it in the first place following the positive feedback on earlier entries in the series, and improve it over many updates with all of the suggestions, feedback, and fan arts over the ~1.5 years from 2021 to 2023 the mod was actively being worked on and received updates.

Even though work on Baldi's Fun New School Remastered has now officially come to a close, it's legacy continues to this day, and it turns out that it has ended up being around for years to come, like that message in the Discussion Area stated all of those years ago!

As I look forward to BFNS Ultimate's continued development and BFNS Remastered 2, and even the beginnings of projects beyond those, I just want to thank everyone again, as we celebrate 4 years of Baldi's Fun New School Remastered today!

Also, Baldi's Fun New School Ultimate is planned to include a BFNS series fan art room somewhere in it's 3D main menu, so feel free to submit appropriate fan art images below for potential inclusion in the room, including BFNS Remastered 4 year anniversary fan art as well!

Happy anniversary BFNSR!

Happy late anniversary to BFNSR! It’s a shame that V1.4.8 is cancelled due to development changes, but I am looking forward to the retrospective for BFNSR, as well as BFNSU and BFNSR 2. Also, I notice that I’m being credited as the soundtrack of BFNSR which is interesting, but maybe it could be reusing tracks that I made from BFNSU or it could be for original tracks like NULL mode that I was supposed to compose.

Also, was NULL mode been implemented in v1.4.8? If so, is there gameplay for it?

Anyways, I’m looking forward to see what the future of BFNS series will offer!

Developer

Thanks! And as for you being credited in the soundtrack of the cancelled 1.4.8 update, some tracks from BFNSU (like the Credits! OST) were planned to be included in that update, hence why your name was added to the credits.

Also, even though NULL mode was planned for 1.4.8, it never got far enough into development for it to be completed and added, which is why it's now planned to be included in Baldi's Fun New School Remastered 2. One thing that was completed for 1.4.8 though was faster loading screen times, but not much more than that.

I'm glad you are looking forward to the BFNSR version retrospective videos coming soon, and maybe I'll share some map layout concepts soon for the main menu and some adventure mode floors in BFNS Ultimate, similar to how I use to make them on images with letter keys (BAL for Baldi, etc) and color coded chunk sections for rooms before building the maps in-game to give me an idea of how they should be set up, and maybe I'll do a poll as well with several variants of each map layout concept where players can vote on which one they'd like to see implemented the most like I've also done before.

Thanks for your response! I like the idea of choosing a poll for the map layouts, since it can make development much easier than thinking the idea for the map on your own. I’m looking forward to see what adventure mode is going to like, especially the tutorial area of the game!

I’ve been loving the series since its release and I’ve been making hundreds of videos on my old Mario Meme channel and I’ve never stopped loving the mod
