Hey thank you so much for the great detailed response and I think I got some answers!

First song was really only supposed to be the leitmotiv I would use for the love song and the other tracks that I’m sure you heard with just slight enough modifications so that it wouldn’t feel just like copy paste.

Everyone is telling me about FF7 indeed and someone shared it here and it blew my mind because that’s the one big FF I haven’t played but I’m  sure I’ve heard the music somewhere years ago and it stayed, but even funnier is  my brother made me listen to the battle theme for 13 (haven’t played any but 8 9 and X, dropped at X-2 because it destroyed everything for me) and actually it’s insane that the melody starts EXACTLY LIKE FF13 it’s not even funny ahaha.

For the « I’m in danger »  feeling you’re right, but to me it felt actually too intense actually when I was making it as I kinda showed the progress in the devlog channel, I felt it needed to be combat but still kinda lighthearted in a way because I KNEW I wanted to have Eryndor’s Madness more than everything else in the ost, and I wanted it to be epic and I needed to have enough gap in tension between both since in the middle of the week with every issues of internet I had, I figured that I might not be able to make the love song and I definitely wanted to work on Eryndors track for sure. But I’ll definitely try your recommendation, I look very much up to you as some others in these jams and am pretty sure you’d have made the better call!

For the third song thank you SO MUCH for the pointers!!! For the limitations of the VST I don’t think that’s it for the solo violin and viola, it’s just that they had no processing, as for Ponte Cello, I’m not yet really using the actual techniques in Dorico most of the time because I’m still a big noob but I’ll definitely check it out tomorrow and will try to learn more about that part! So super thanks for those hints!

As for the placement feature there’s a hiccup though as I used NotePerformer 4.5 with their NPPE engine for all the CSS libraries which is most of what you can hear in all tracks and unfortunately I did try to see if I could place stuff but it seems that NotePerformer disables fully the feature which was confirmed I think either on VI-Control or Reddit can’t remember now x_x

But since the new NotePerformer 5 ditches external libraries for good, I’m thinking of creating all the expression maps by hand for CSS and all the other VST I can think that I’ll need for the next jam, because that placement features looked like such a game changer!!

Anyway this is a long-winded way of saying thank you so much for all the detail, I really appreciate it you helping me out with these pointers and will take them to heart for next time. I’m taking a course on mixing as it’s also a big problem I’ve had since OST Jam 07 and hope to improve there too for next time.

love the feedback and I hope we see each other for the next jam, I’ll definitely listen to you tomorrow ❤️

Any luck on experimenting with the different articulations? I'm quite curious about how the Noteperformer engine would work. There seem to be an extention for VSL like VSL prime. But sadly the only info I can find is, that this is supposetly discontinues ☹

Yeah I’m super sad about that, technically you could map it to VSTs and it would seemlessly blend their own engine sounds whenever an articulation didn’t exist. It’s such a shame they are discontinuing it now, and to use the 4.5 version and not upgrade to the 5th because of that!
