How does the game fit the theme?
The whole game is about pushing your luck with mana. You can play it safe with smaller spells or keep drawing to try and hit 21 for a huge bomb... but if you go over you blow yourself up. So it’s literally about risking it all for the big reward.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All gameplay code, design, and implementation were made from scratch during the jam. Sprites, sounds, and music were sourced from CC0-licensed assets.

Looks like Bingus did not sign the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. The gameplay loop felt brisk and snappy. Great visual and audio feedback on everything that was going on. I ended up falling into a strategy of just turtle-ing up with my shield until I happened to draw into a nuke. I saw that the deck size is limited, but I never got particularly close to zero except to see what would happen (softlock). Overall a fun little card combat game!
Neat idea combining turn based RPG fight with cards. Monochrome era graphics feel good with the support of 8-bit sound effects and music. Good job!
Woah such a cool game and concept. I could totally see this being a new kind of rpg/pokemon game. Very polished and fits the theme really well. Loved it!
This is pretty fun! I do wish Ace -> Face Card actually equalled 21 instead of 11. That felt pretty weird/bad. I ended up with 25 wins and could’ve gone farther but I started pushing for higher numbers and bust a couple times. Really never felt compelled to hit after getting to 12+, as the risk to reward is too great. Otherwise it was all leech and puncture with the occasional rare fireball.
Would love to see how much farther the design could be pushed, but it’s a neat package for now. Good work! :)

Hi. Honestly great game. Had some fun here. Though i think the lifesteal spell doesnt work, at least i dont think i ever saw it doing anything.
