It is a shame, but the nature of how safe and convenient browser games are will always make them preferred. For those who are scared of malicious activity from downloads, I'd strongly recommend using Windows Sandbox (free and easy). Simply hit the windows key, type in "add windows features" and find windows sandbox, restart your pc and then you can search and open the windows sandbox like any other app. Once opened, download and browse within the sandbox app and any potentially infected files are removed when the sandbox is closed. It's what l use when downloading files from here. Mac and Linux may have their own sandboxes built in, but if not you can download a free sandbox program or virtual machine like VMware. This is my first game jam so I'm not familiar with jams in general, but I'd assume going to a less beginner jam would get you more downloads. I'll check out your game and rate it when I'm back at my pc.

thank you! And windows sandbox is indeed a great idea that I didn't think about. So I'm really happy you brought it up

This is great advice! :)

Unfortunately malware is something that can happen in a jam as it's a perfect scenario for any malicious actor that wants to spread their malware. Thanks for sharing this!
