Hey! I really enjoyed this game, and played it for quite some time.

I've never played Yahtzee or any of the other games you mentioned on your page, so I don't know how similar this is, but this game seemed very balanced (which is AWESOME). I played for about 40 mins and only obtained the MATCH-5 two times. Both times felt super rewarding and lucky.

I think this jam encompassed the "theme" stronger than any other game I've played, from both the artistic perspective and the gameplay mechanics.

My favorite recipes were the Score Full House and the Score Straight because they allowed for really cheap ingredients (sugar/flour) to bring in a lot of high value.

Minor Feedback

  • The game UI was a bit confusing at first and I didn't know what the +DICE and other numbers meant at first. The icon art was EXTREMELY helpful (especially for the full house and score straight, in showing what it does).
  • The game felt a bit daunting at first when going through the web page tutorial because there is a lot going on on the screen (at first glance).

Possible Suggestions

1. I loved the game,  the art, the audio, and the gameplay loop. Everything was great and even mostly balanced! That said, the main suggestion I'd have for the game is more "juiciness" (a term that sounds kinda gross to me, haha). I linked a cool article about it:

I think if the sound effects were improved, the anticipation built up with each roll, and there was a visual and audible feedback when the player gets a high score, it would feel even better.

That said, I'm sure you guys had more things you wanted to add, but it's hard to do in one week :p

2. It'd be cool if you can leave an ingredient on the table for the next round (especially for situations when additional ingredients won't give you extra points).

Anyway, thanks for also rating our game and wishing you the best of luck on the jam!

Thank you so much for taking the time to play our game and provide such detailed feedback! The Ui/tutorial section is definitely a weaker point in the game, particularly if you don’t have familiarity with other dice based games. That is certainly something we would like to improve on in a future iteration (outside of the game jam)! Also love the feedback/suggestion to improve the game’s “juiciness” (And thank you for linking the article too). This game was our first Game Jam and we have been learning a lot. Feedback like this is invaluable so thank you for taking so much time to invest back into the community, it is greatly appreciated!
