good job your first game jam! i like th premise and the island setting!
unfortunately, I didn't get how to dig. maybe you could clarify in the description :)
still, very good practice to put a tutorial up front! you could make sure that people understood how digging works before moving on by requiring them to actually put the object in the boat.
