I can't with a clear consious recommend using paypal at all right now, even though it's definitely unlikely that an individual customer is targeted and banned. Everyone has to assess the risk, and they should at least be aware of the possible danger.
Creators (5+ years of using Patreon) have had their Paypal terminated for selling adult content on Patreon: https://x.com/Miilkywayz/status/1960607816475140277?t=0KAD2ONGOqdf4RzgMjmucA&s=1...
It seems that using Paypal is the issue, rather than the platform.
EDIT: Patreon supports Paypal and Payoneer for content creators, but neither support adult content:
Payoneer allowed content explicitly bans adult video games:

Paypal also doesn't allow it. So essentially, using Patreon and accepting payments for adult content is currently against the TOS of both payment systems.
It should be allowed, but yet it is not. Have you read Paypal's TOS? You need explicit permission from Paypal prior to setting up your Patreon. Payoneer outright does not allow adult content at all.
There are lots of adult content creators on Patreon, and most of them are breaking Paypal's rules and everyone is breaking Payoneers rules. We see evidence of Paypal waking up and cracking down on adult content creators, regardless of the content.
