I really liked the art direction and the atmosphere in general. I didn't understand if the mini games had a connection to the story, but maybe this helped to enhance the sense of mystery. Nice work!
I think you are correct in that they are there to contribute to the mystery of the game. However, narratively, they are connected - just intentionally ambiguous.
