Hello! Welcome to Feedback Quest 8! My name's Hythrain, a co-host and one of the streamers for this event! This feedback is being written live as I stream your game! If you're interested in seeing my live reaction, let me know and I can send you a link to the VOD once it's posted to YouTube!

So my normal approach for any game in these events is simple: I get the game, make sure it's not a virus, then play it with as little information on how to play as possible. This way, I can judge how intuitively someone can figure out the game. Only if it's obvious that I need to read more will I do so. I note this so you can get a sense where some of these feedback comes from. In addition, I want to note that feedback and rating are different; don't use this feedback to gauge what I'll rate, nor should you view my rating as entirely indicative of my feedback.

So this was interesting and quirky. A point and click puzzle game in a dog's dreams as he's trying to win the love of his crush, an idol. The graphics are charming and the puzzles are fun to figure out. The sounds are a bit loud as other have pointed out, but that's an easy fix. For me, I felt like the controls were a little clunky. It starts as a point and click, but when doing the hint minigame (more to say on this after) or playing Super Doge it suddenly switches to full keyboard with two hands. I would recommend making this a mix of both: use A and D for movement in those games, but make space bar be jump and make left mouse click be your replacement for "enter." That way, a player can always keep their hands in the same spots to control everything. I also found moving around with the point and click was weird, as it wouldn't want to move the way I wanted it to, some clicks wouldn't register because they weren't technically valid space (but the spot is close enough that it should work) or sometimes the click would register the little cloud when I'm trying to move. Since you already have object detection going on for when the dog runs around, why not just make it that the player can fully move around using WASD?

Also, I could not for the life of me figure out the last 3 optional sheep in the second puzzle. I got the moon and the back of the console, but I'm all out of ideas to keep going after that.

Thanks so much for the detailed live feedback, Hythrain — I’d definitely love to see the VOD once it’s up on YouTube, that would be awesome to watch . You’re spot on about the sound being a bit loud, that’s already on my list to optimize in future builds . Also, really appreciate the control suggestions — I plan to add full WASD movement so it feels more natural instead of just relying on clicks. And haha, about those last 3 optional sheep in the second puzzle: 1) the moon , 2) getting 3 coins (yep, that’s the one you called ā€˜the back of the console’), and 3) realizing that the mushrooms can actually be stepped on (but not touched from the side) . Thanks again for playing during Feedback Quest and for all the thoughtful notes, it really helps me a lot!ā€

Wait, I think I missed some important steps then. I have gotten the moon one (where you fix the painting when you make it night time), and while I did the complete unplugging of the console I never saw a third coin. So only the mushroom is new for me in that list.

Haha, yep — 3 coins: one behind the frame, one under the table, and one in the bushes. These hidden items only affect achievements, not beating the game

Ok, so went through that second puzzle again; I'm still missing two sheep. So I'm just gonna detail everything I do in order.

First, I turn the TV on and go to the third channel. I sit in the chair. I then move the chair to the middle painting, fix it, then complete the painting. Before I go in, I move the chair to third painting to fix it and get the coin. I then move the chair back to the middle. Inside, I turn on the water and then grab the stick before returning to the room. I get the floaty out from under the table then change the TV to the game. I go into the game. I collect all of the coins in game, then release the mushroom and jump on it. I talk to the plumber. Now I return to the painting and get the coin in the bush since, for some reason, I couldn't get it before. I get the plumbing fixed. I make the jump to the other side to get the clock turner. I head back into the painting and use the clock turner, then make it night time. I go back to the room, move the chair to the first painting and fix it. I go back into the painting and make it morning. I go back out and use the fan to blow the clouds into the painting. Before I go into the painting, I go to the back of the console and unplug all three and exit the screen. I then go back into that screen, which triggers one sheep (not sure why I need to go out and back in but whatevs). I then go into the painting and use the tub.

This leaves me with two missing sheep.

Also, if the 3 coins aren't needed for beating the game then there's something missing, as I needed to get two coins in order to pay the plumber.

Thank you so much for taking the time to test everything so carefully. I followed your steps and was able to reproduce it. After digging in, I realized the two missed sheep are:

  1. The coin under the table (this one can only be found before plumbing is fixed—since that event consumes all coin-related triggers).

  2. The sheep that spawns simply by pushing the table (if the table is never pushed, that one never appears).

And about the one you mentioned with ā€œI then go back into that screen, which triggers one sheepā€ — yeah, that’s a bit odd. I originally intended it to trigger the first time you connect correctly, but right now it spawns just by re-entering the screen. I’ll adjust that to feel more natural.

By the way, I’m also currently trying to add WASD movement everywhere,  and it feels so much smoother to play ~

Really appreciate your super detailed feedback—it helps me a lot!

I've pushed the table before but had never gotten a sheep for it. Instead, I've just been woken up.

Is there a trick to getting the coin under the table? I've not seen any such coin.

If the console still has a cable connected to the TV, pushing the table will make it fall and wake you up—so unplug it first! Also, as long as you push the table before fixing the plumbing (before the coin is used), you’ll be able to see a coin there.
