Also what is with the planets? Should I make them red or make them green/clear?

Thank you for playing! I'll go update the page with a little more detail on the controls and the planets.
When the star has been relatively stable (consistently yellow) for 10 seconds, the 3 planets will form. As the star grows or shrinks, the planets transition between molten/lava (red), life-supporting (blue and green) or frozen (white). There are very narrow ranges where 2 life-supporting planets are possible, and when the score ticks up every half second, each life supporting planet is work 10 bonus points.
