Hey Larsi,
I tested the new version of Rift Miner for about 20 minutes. Overall, I really like the changes, but I did run into a few issues.
Pro:
-
The new ore textures look great. 👍
-
Nice that the white placeholders have been replaced with dirt.
-
The different mining sounds for dirt and ores are a solid addition.
-
The portal transition (Station ↔ Rift) feels smoother now.
-
I like the new early-game balancing with the Auto Miner.
- The Animation for breaking Blocks looks good!
Con:
-
During my ~20 min test, I had 9 crashes when teleporting from Station → Rift.
-
Usually after 2–4 minutes of gameplay.
-
The first 3–4 teleports work fine, but then the game freezes during the teleport animation when entering the Rift. Shown in the Screenshot

Game Freeze after a few Minutes, when entering the Rift.
-
-
I also had 2 crashes on game start where the process stopped responding. I suspect this happened because I switched to my second monitor (Twitch moderation) during startup.
-
Apart from the teleport crashes, the game ran smoothly as before.
Specs (for reference, ancient system):
-
Intel® Core™ i7-5775C, 6 MB Cache, up to 3.70 GHz
-
4 GB Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Windforce 3X
-
Corsair Vengeance Pro 16 GB DDR3, 1600 MHz
-
Transcend MTS400 M.2 SSD, 512 GB SATA III
Edit: The Crash was caused by High, Very High and Ultra Graphic Settings.
Was the Very High and Ultra one new added? Only have seen High as Highest.
In the old Version, High was run without Crash, now it runs without crash for me on Medium. Makes sense for my Ancient System.
I will continue testing the new Update and report when something new happens :)
