Awesome! How are you feeling about the combat system so far? Anything jump out that seems off or could use tweaking?

most problems I have are only relating to how I personally plan encounters, one thing that's slightly a nitpick is that reloading should probably be classed as a simple action, rather than a complex one, might help streamline things. this was the most combat heavy session yet, but there weren't too many problems. I guess it's more accurate to say "not as many problems as I was expecting"
honestly, I'm tempted to try making some renders of the replikas I've been talking about in these Session logs, but I guess I could give some random notes on each of them if asked, it's whatever.
fair enough, also it's that time of the week again!
Notes from session 6
- unsurprisingly, a pantry full of rotting food is not fucking enjoyable,
- there's a freezer.
why is it fucking MOVING?????? - hey, Fox, go touch the moving Freezer,
- hey look, there's a dnd campaign going on in the freezer- oh never mind it's meat,
- unsurprisingly, opening the box of rotting meat? not a good smell, thank you for closing it, Bird.,
- unless you're lilith, I guess.,
- holy shit, Lilith actually comforting someone that isn't Eve? what did Bird do to get the special treatment? [second direct acknowledgment of the way we mostly use masculine pronouns both in and out of character when referring to Bird],
- Eve finds the ashes of that Star from earlier,
- Eve ALSO needs to stop taking point because she keeps nearly getting attacked. nearly got a bullet in her head,
- you thought the Clinic would be normal? FOOL THAT YOU ARE, time travel! [on a technicality],
- fish tank :],
- Eve attempts to look up patient data, finds out there is/was a kid in her care- oh sweet jesus, it's a Blizzard,
- inside is Lewis, an imperial. he's very confused as to why what he thinks are the cops are at a metropolitan gp clinic he works at. during a snow storm.,
- "FYM it's 2018?????????" [I was intentionally vague about the dates],
- come to this weird fictionalised version of Manitoba, we have: the dumbest fucking fire escape design on this plane of reality [like, you need to go up a staircase to get to the roof, but then there's a staircase down the side that ALSO connects to some high-rise building too like wtf],
- Fox gets that leather jacket I promised their player a bit ago[session 2],
- Eve ptsd flashbacks,
- walking down the "street with too many yield signs",
[silent hill joke]
- police station, everything is damp,
- the red door,
- WE'RE BACK IN THE FUCKING BUILDING AGAIN,
- oh hey, it's a S.T.C.R. oh she's an asshole. [surprisingly, Zwei isn't dead yet.],
end of session
overall, this session dipped into some fun storytelling stuff for me personally, although I might try to avoid the one-off locations in the future, Lewis though is sticking around [albeit older but yk]
Notes from episode 6.5:
- still sitting around in the office (something wicked this way comes)
- Eve intentionally destabilises herself to remember that kid she read about, promptly incurs 1 point of personal damage and one blown fuse(no physical damage tho)
- as Fox helps her up, the ceaseless watcher throws some weird device at the two, it hits Eve, and promptly breaks.
- Fox inspects the weird doohickey. It’s an improbability drive. Wait a second.
- oh hey bird got pulled through the floor.
- Oh nice, same shit happened to Eve and Fox too. Obviously.
- you three are live in 10
- oh hey, some earpieces- YOU CAN HEAR YOUR PLAYER AAAA
- Eve finds a familiar looking gas mask and tries to stabilise (and fails)
- why are there so many guns isn’t this a dressing room
- Fox almost shoots Eve. And by “almost” I mean he very much so DOES but it gets reversed for everyone except fox. He knows he did. But it’s not like Eve’s dead. Yet.
- oh shit we’re out of time here, to the stage!
- meet our host, a custom replika I made late last year named Osprey, or O.S.P.R, a dual purpose entertainment and high-priority target termination. She’s annoying.
- oh hey, the audience of foreshadowing.
- Eve’s player has to leave, so Eve(the character) gets fucking executed on live television. She’ll be better next episode dw
- trivia continues, with Osprey getting more annoyed at the remaining imperials with each question.
- with the trivia done, we’re over budget so just toss them into the arena
- fox is done fucking around.
- bird is too silly to kill ANYTHING except one grunt that died of pitty.
- Fox Kills Osprey. Who promptly comes back in as if nothing ever happened.
- arena done, imperials are out
- oh hey it’s USMC George to be aggressive and cryptic again
- enter the hole, oh hey you’re outside the horrors- WAIT
- oh thank fuck, the horrors are gone.
- wait is the facility normal now????
- holy shit there’s uncorrupted Eules here! All of which are on edge!
- one Eule jogs to the pantry to write an email to the other cleaning/maintenance personnel because she thinks it’s about the performance review.
- Fox and bird find her mid email writing and then have a sensible laugh before being dragged to the watcher’s “office”
- minor monologue from her before we ended the session. Six minutes overtime.
Our first “episode”, which itself was one massive reference to madness combat. Mostly with that improbability drive nonsense.
Notes from session 7
(Minor note at the start, there is a good chance that Lilith’s player will have to withdraw from the campaign soon due to his job.)
- Eve’s got a headache. Also some bandages. Golly gee, I wonder why?
- bird and fox do their best to explain *the game show* last episode
- Zwei does her best snapcube robotnic impression because she has no fucking clue what those three are talking about
- Lilith finally wakes up again and immediately helps Eve get that point of persona back.
- exploring the rationing office (this took up most of the episode actually)
- snooping through the computer in here. The password was “8008” because I thought it’d be funny
- security footage of an imperial star unit getting into a gunfight (and loosing) before the camera itself is sent to Europa’s surface
- emails are nothing out of the ordinary, barring an email from Falke, stating that riot suppression protocols have changed. And an email telling everyone to keep a far lower profile on mining operations.
- open Zwei’s dms and- oh Christ that is… unprofessional.
- the mines are alive! This definitely won’t be a problem later, why do you ask?
- rest of the DMs are standard fare (people bitching between each other) (except a Mynah just sending Zwei pictures of stuffed animals)
- to a room across the hall! (We have an hour and a half left.)
- the worker bathrooms are very bare-bones, found half a key though.
- in the mirror, Eve doesn’t see her fellows around her. She sees a short woman in a pilot’s suit(Bird), a middle aged man in an Officer’s clothes(fox), and a medic(Lilith). Eve is dead in the reflection, BIRD however can see a young woman in winter clothes in Eve’s place in the reflection.
- to the last corridor of the session!
- we close the session off with Fox’s player falling asleep and a weird. And a very brief combat encounter.
Shorter notes than usual, but that’s more because we had less going on this time, here’s hoping some more things go on next session.
Notes from episode 7.5
- Eve fucking IMPLODES in an elevator
- the gang wakes up in some bombed out bunker
- so this is the fabled “outsi-“ THE WAR (also we’re on EARTH this episode!)
- oh hey there’s this injured and confused imperial pilot out here
- Lilith had to pretend to denounce the nation
- the pilot’s name is Nicole, and- oh wait what is this the human Bird was based on? (Yes) ((damn.))
- she explains (While Lilith tends to her wounds) that her transport plane got shot down while she was deploying a strike team. Also she’s extremely confused as to why there’s an administration unit out here that has an anti-tank rifle. (Y’know, ignoring the leather jacket and pink nails) ((we’ll get to that))
- the gang resolves to go south since there’s an airbase that way
- there’s a Flakr in these woods and she’s very confused as to why a SURGEON (Lilith) is in the WOODS with the ENEMY.
- session ends with Lilith deflecting a 40mm Anti Air shell back at the Flakr and then the gang gets fucking eviscerated by shrapnel, sending them back to the hallway they started
This session ended far earlier than usual, time zones are funny aren’t they?
Also as you noticed, Eve was not present in this session, don’t worry she won’t have any burns from exploding like she did from getting her brain blasted, but yeah, that’s why this week was a .5 episode rather than a normal session.
hi
Unfortunately I can not find my notes from session 8 at the moment, I’m still looking so please be patient. As I have to
From what I do remember, Lilith’s player was late so she was floating off the ground, the party was searching through a few hallways, had a brief run in with the ceaseless watcher, Lilith came in, they met an actual human character while exploring a prison that technically shouldn’t exist, his name is Edmund, he’s technically not my character, and he’s supposed to have an Irish accent but I am unable to actually DO an Irish accent so I just did my best Scottish accent and it was fine, they met the merchant. She doesn’t like Ed. Anyway they met an almost corrupted star unit who knew Fox! Also she finds him annoying and wasn’t willing to help so she… let herself out.
As slight bad news from this point on, there’s a good chance Lilith’s player will need to leave the campaign due to their job among other factors I am not at liberty to discuss.
Haha right so, I recognise that I’m late with the sparknotes for the last session, my sincerest apologies for the delay.
Notes from session 9 (with mild annotation, as an apology for the late broadcast)
- the party enters the meat room (don’t question it, it’s fine, every prison has one)
- Eve grabs a weirdly familiar hand, and nearly gets pulled into the meat-wall (siblings, am I right? And then she just stared at Eve like SHE was the crazy one)
- Lilith wakes up- taped to the ceiling of the solitary room. Fun. (Yeah, surprisingly Lilith was able to show up this session! Fun)
- the team goes into the registry because “fuck it, there’s gotta be intel in here, and most of it is boring paperwork. Eddie was transferred to this facility a few days ago. maybe.
- turns out, the sister of the human Eve was based on was held in this prison before everything went fucky. Also since none of my players are here, her name is Nina Edleweise, a 23 year old Rotfront resident, jailed for being part of the Rotfront revolutionary committee, a group aiming for the planet’s independence from both the nation and empire.
- Lilith gets the urge to go over to block A-7, around the same time as Eve getting a bad feeling about Lilith. Cue a heartfelt moment
- cue the horrors for Lilith the moment she gets to block A-7 because the watcher wants to have a word with her. Ends up having a nice chat with… herself (highlights included, making Lilith think she killed Her closest friend, beaming a highlight reel from the human she’s based on’s life, going to that one rocky island, having a fun chat with that same person while her own corpse, learning the name of the template she was built off. Lilya. In character she won’t remember this but the players for her liked it)
-Lilith getting puppeteered around but trying to get back to the gang and- getting steered towards an open elevator shaft.
- the gang finds Lilith spinning in a doorway. Attempts at stopping her are ineffective but eventually it is done (Eve hit her with a fucking hell-sweep like this shit Tekkan. However since Bird was hanging off Lilith’s arm in a attempt to stop her from spinning, she also gets fucking launched into an elevator because I’m allergic to being subtle about where my players need to go to progress the story to the next stage.)
- the locker room is fine? Wrong! Corrupted Eule in one of the lockers. Also that Elster from like, the second session. (Yeah, remember L.S.T.R-001 “defect” from the early sessions)
- oh hey another reference to the oc of a person in the campaign(an arctic colonist parka belonging to Magnus Alabaster) as well as the drawing of foreshadowing.
- ending the session by Edmund folding a corrupted Eule in the showers like a lawn chair.
Again, my apologies for the delay fellow overseers, which reminds me I am now opening “audience participation” which is to say, if you have any ideas how to fuck with these robots. I’ll get to any ideas within a reasonable timeframe
