Thank you so much for your kind words!  The reloading was originally done one by one with a longer buffer time,  but as the game didn't progress as far as we would have wanted to, I removed it because it felt off - that's on me,  my bad :')

It depends on how you look at it. The main purpose of reloading, at least to me, is to penalise misses. Since you're already doing that by multiplying dragoons, I would consider removing it. At the same time, you can also use it to add challenge. It is really up to the designer to see what fits the game.
