I like the chill vibe of this game and the character design and animation are nice! It took me a little while to get the hang of it, but I can see what you were going for with the puzzles, and I actually think there's a lot of potential with the plant/fungi-growing mechanics! It took me an embarrassingly long time to get through the third stage (I kept trying to make it work by putting the mushroom on top of the tree, lol), but I eventually got it. The fifth stage was showing some promise, and I think I figured out what I needed to do, but unfortunately I ran into a game-breaking bug where for some reason the game would freeze and it wouldn't take any input from the keyboard or mouse. It might have to do with activating the "Look Around" mode, or launching plants while in that mode, but sometimes it did work without issue, so I don't know. I restarted the game a few times and kept running into the same problem. Also, perhaps even more strangely, after the first time I encountered this bug, the sound and music stopped working, and then they somehow stayed off even when I refreshed the page and reloaded the game.

Anyway, I don't know if it was just me, but I thought I'd mention it. Overall, very cute game, I like the idea of carrying a rose to your loved one (on your head, haha) being the main goal, and there's some solid, classic puzzle-platformer mechanics in there!

Thank you!

The game freezing sounds like an OpenFL bug that was discovered and resolved a few days after the jam, so unfortunately out of my control. The lack of sounds does indeed sound very strange, maybe you accidentally muted it? By default, HaxeFlixel projects allow changing volume by pressing + and - to increase/decrease and 0 to mute. The volume is then saved and loaded on future game reloads.

We're working on a post-jam remake of the game that'll present our initial idea as polished as we wanted it to be. Without the strange bugs, hopefully.😅

Just to follow up on the audio thing, it does look like I somehow muted the game, probably by accidentally pressing 0 on the numpad since it's pretty close to the right arrow on my laptop. Now I can listen to that nice music again 🎵

THE WAY YOU CARRY PLANTS!! OMG.

I love this idea, it's so cute, and very creative! It's surprising how much depth and gameplay you're exploring for a jam game.

Admittedly I did get quite confused a few times, and this was mostly due to me not reading/remembering the full description as I played haha - so I don't want to belabor on that too much. But one really simple thing that could help with immediate clarity would be maybe adding a description/use of your held item while you're carrying it around.

The puzzle mechanics were unexpectedly awesome! The bush providing a soft landing is such a cool mechanic, and feels appropriately different than the mushroom and tree.

Your description has too many apologies hehe <3 I liked your game and the ideas it presented!
I hope you three get a chance to finish it up soon!

Great art style and interpretation of the theme. I was able to hard lock the game a few times, but the game mechanics made sense once I read the description. I really hope to see a polished version!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! If by "hard lock" you mean a freeze/crash, there's a very high chance that it's due to an OpenFL bug I discovered a day after submitting the game... so I'm not taking the blame for that one hehe 😅.  We'll very likely come back to this sometime soon!

Nah, it was something to do with physics. If you dropped a tree too close to the pot it would go through the ground.

The animations and graphics are all great but the game is hard to understand. I cannot complete the third level. There is some extra power to get from the plants but how?

Developer

Unfortunately we didn't have time to implement a proper tutorial and some of the art assets are placeholders. I've added additional information on the game's page that explain certain mechanics. In the third level, you are supposed to drop the key plant onto the deposit. Once activated, the "Br" blocks will swap. Blue blocks aren't collidable (you will fall through them) while brown ones are. This will allow you to go to the right and get a mushroom. Use this mushroom to get back on the big plant at the start of the level and ride it down. On your way down you will notice a white rectangle. Jump into it and it will send you to the exit. It's a teleporter.

We're well aware that it's confusing, especially considering that some sprites are missing. Hopefully the additional info I've provided on the game's page can help out a bit. We'll likely come back to this sometime in the future and properly complete and polish it, like we wanted to.
