This is a very well polished game, and I'm impressed you managed to make something look as nice as this within the time crunch of a game jam! The combat + movement feels smooth, I enjoyed the voice acting, and the overall aesthetic is very charming.

I'll be the first to admit that I couldn't complete the game. Those frogs absolutely destroyed me. I'm not good enough to dodge them when they can shoot me through walls, and the narrow corridor where the frogs are introduced killed me many, MANY times. I would be panicking trying to jump over the ledge as I got blitzed by the amphibian equivalent of a firing squad. I eventually managed to grind 100 coins for the key to enter the next area though.

However...the frogs once again killed me in the next area!

Ok, no problem. I'll just respawn and go back to the new area...but I was surprised when I realized that the door was locked again because I died, and now I have to grind another 100 coins to get the key again :(

Anyways long story short is I tried grinding for those coins again, but those darn frogs with their dastardly tongues kept sending me back to the respawn area. I've rated this game extremely high on all the categories, but the frogs are stopping me from rating gameplay higher. Maybe I just need to git gud.

If I could adjust the frogs, I would make it so their attacks are more telegraphed and don't go through walls. Also, I would spawn them in an open area, rather than a narrow corridor where I can't sidestep their tongue.

Anyways, another small comment is that I feel like cheese should take up its own dedicated inventory slot, or be worth more to sell. After feverishly massacring rats, I would have to decide between taking upgrade material or cheese.  since I had limited inventory. I'd ALWAYS take upgrade material, so I would end up littering the floor with unclaimed cheese. It just didn't feel worth it to sacrifice an inventory slot to get like 2 gold from cheese, when I could get a shiny ruby instead.

Wow, this is a long comment. But that's because I really really adore this game and the gameplay + art direction. I've rated a couple of games in this jam, but this is the nicest looking one so far.

Wow this is such great feedback. Thank you so much for playing! It seems like you keyed into some problems I recognized as well. Perhaps some rethinking of the frog tongue attack would help (do a ray cast before attacking to see if there is a wall between him and the player).

Im glad that grinding out weapon upgrades was something you realized you could do! Thats a great discovery.

In the next version, I've also toned down the 'hit punch' which should help with the difficulty of the frogs.

Thank you again for the critique and comments. I think every point of yours is valid! I may release this game in a fuller polished form on steam and itch for $7. I had a lot of fun with this project and I think its got the basis for something cool, it just needs a little more work haha.
