Hmm I wonder if you had some kind of bug because it does definitely give the money when using it. You happen to able to test in the tutorial for me just to sanity test myself?

Tried it again and it actually works in both the tutorial and main game. I think I was too stupid to properly compare before and after of my point status. So that's on me ;) I think in the first playthrough I wasted my bomb on the upper minerals and there I only got one of the blocks (as the others have too much health) and that's part of why I didn't notice.
Nice, next time more bomb usage from my side. :D
