The game looks good, but the driving is really hard.
I love the art and the atmosphere but the driving is a miracle for me in this game.
The art is so pretty and the idea is so good that I wish I could enjoy the mechanics of driving through the city. The combination of the immediate angular turns and the bugged(?) inability to turn/delay on turning made navigation difficult and frustrating. If I could get into a rhythm with driving, it probably would have allowed me to pay better attention to the rules and regulations and any attention at all to kissing up to the party in charge. I appreciate the vision, and I can imagine a not too distant version of this game where juggling everything is difficult, but satisfying.
This feels like a fun, crazy type of game being held back by clunky controls on the car. I'm not sure if the "push once to rotate by X degrees" turning of the car is an intentional design choice or a technical limitation, but I don't see it working for what this game could be. I'd love this to be hilariously frantic, where I drive like a maniac through the city, hit half the people, and maybe get one or two to their destination, and have a blast doing all that, but that needs some really tight controls and good physics to get it right. The artwork, music and general vibe of the game & narrative are really fun though, so does there's definitely something here worth working on further.
Really amazing job on everything except some aspects of gameplay, as a player I wished you let me enjoy this world you put so much effort into rather than having to restart every minute due to not being able to drive this clunky 8-angles car perfectly well. The pedestrian hit penalty is too punishing, considering it is almost impossible to avoid them if you go with the car's acceleration. One might think that the solution is to drive more careful.. However, the acceleration rate is too high and definitely does not go well with any sort of careful driving, I'd have to move in series of nudges to drive with any care. Maybe someone else is better at this, my feel is a lot of amazing talent and effort was put in but it was a few tweaks away from achieving fullest potential.
