My understanding is the malware or potential virus is a false flag. It's a known issue with windows defender and has been an issue for a long time. Many devs have actually put that as a note in their descriptions as well. If you do not trust it that is fine but there is nothing actually wrong so don't worry. :)
It is too bad that many uploads include malware. Windows Defender in Windows 11 is the best iteration so far, but there are better solutions available. I spend annually around $500 on the best antivirus/antimalware protection and all of them fail frequently, especially if they are not aware of new exploits and viruses, they can only protect you from what they know. Game Jolt is the worst offender injecting all kinds of malware into your system upon game install and during gameplay. I have 32 viruses and 68 exploits in quarantine on one PC that were stopped and captured in the last three months. Sandboxing does help immensely and virtual machines even more, but they are not a perfect or completely bulletproof solution. Gone are the days when you could download a game ZIP or RAR file, unpack it and run the game without worry or fear. Today that would be system suicide if one would dare to do so. For many gamers, their systems are infected and being exploited without them even being aware. Many people are crazy enough to play games on the same PC that they store personal data and do online shopping, banking and bill paying with. My earnest hope is that someday someone will come up with an affordable solution that puts an end to data theft, exploitation, and corruption permanently, and users once again can have peace of mind.
They are not a game dev. They are a venomous, mind eating, soul sucking, microscopic piece of shit, who goes around spreading misinformation, ruining reputation of many devs and just spam commenting the same thing over and over. They are a menace and need to be stopped. Not to mention they are a liar and just shit, literally.
