I love Asteroids, and I'm starting to discover that I love roguelikes! The idea of adding powerups to Asteroids is cool, but then some of the ideas for powerup go above and beyond, like the penetration one! I'm a bit miffed that there's always a trade-off, but it does let you choose what you want to focus on. Also the overall retro feel with the art and sound effects is awesome!
