A great game, my only complaint is that there seems to be only one way to succeed (which would fit with the theme, but that's not really conducive to gameplay). Maybe I just got unlucky, but no one I talked to was willing to help, and it'd be nice to be able to search the garbage to try and find spare change or food.  In the end I get it's a game jam game, so great work nonetheless!

I am curious though, was the alarm pass code hinted at anywhere, or was that just a dead end? I thought it might have been the lottery number, or maybe the various numbers in the background (I found the 10 and 24 on the food store, the 1707 graffiti, and the clock stuck at 5pm) combined, but those don't seem to work.

Thank you for the comments! The alarm section isn’t a dead end — in fact, the code 1707 lets you in. I wish I had managed the clues better, but if you look at the building’s facade, the message “LOLI” appears, which is 1707 flipped. Also 17pm or the calendar with July 17. The interactions with NPCs are quite limited because I didn’t have enough time to implement everything I had in mind, so I deactivated it, same with the lottery system that I had in mind. They were supposed to be more complex — some would give you money, food, be more friendly or aggressive... and there were even going to be special characters. Similarly, I wanted to add more objects to interact with, like trash containers, trash in the floor, etc etc... but again, I just ran out of time.

Totally get it, I wish I had more time too. You got a good foundation here, best of luck if you decide to keep building on it!
