I figured it out. In the first location of the Forbidden Woods go all the way to the left - there's another location. There you can interact with the said gates

it's a little weird cuz they put it through a translator. by castle they mean mansion. if you dont know where the mansion is, there's a puzzle in the traveler's path. there are 8 balls hanging from the trees. if you number them from left to right, click them in this order: 7-5-3-1-8-2-4-6. the other stone isn't with the witch exactly but you pass the stone to get to the witch initially. colored-in leaves will fly past periodically, click and drag those into the fire. the third stone is through the first arch in the forbidden woods. put the fireflies between your cursor and the fire and move your cursor close to the fireflies to nudge them into the fire. you cant do any of these things until you've clicked the stone doors first
