I figured it out. In the first location of the Forbidden Woods go all the way to the left - there's another location. There you can interact with the said gates
How do you get to the forbidden woods? I can't find the entrance to it anywhere. I can't open the secret passage in the Witch's hut, either. There's no fires for me to burn the leaves or chestnuts. Game is so badly designed. & there's no hints toward progression.
Yea, except I didn't know I needed to use the hook blade on a stick to knock out the guy in front of the tavern. This is what I was trying to figure out & only found out through a lot of web searching.
