Did you first meet with Ezra and get the shovel?

I did not have this issue.

Also, maybe try a fresh download/install?  Do not unzip the game and overwrite it in the same place as the previous install, or delete the previous version first before unzipping.

Fresh download and install location, previous game install was deleted but I didnt clear the %data for the previous saves, and was just saving over them. I suppose that could cause issues, but its a weird bug. and yea met our cute kobold and got a rusty shovel. Will try a new download/install again.

I'm wondering if you might have misclicked maybe?  At one of the beaches, you can dig and the selection right below returns you to the mainland.  I tried recreating the bug as I did not delete the %data either, but everything worked fine for me.  

I use the PC version.
