I get the whole timing of everything going on, but I think the incident with Visa and Mastercard is not related to every nation in the 'western' world (suddenly) wanting to promote mass censorship .  I think the censorship push is related to other events going on in the world and how public opinion on such events is turning against the establishment, so they are doing the only thing they know how to do; double down on failed policies in the hopes it can somehow contain the anger (which it will not).

whatever the case, they're lampooning against our rights and we need to fight back and make sure there's as much backlash and public outcry as possible, censorship dies when enough angry voices live.

I am not arguing that at all.  I just think they are not 'directly' connected.
