In my game, there will be a multitude of mops with buckets of water up and down from the kitchens to the bedrooms. Preferable with a wizard sized mouse doing its nut! 

I wonder how long it would take to find the smutty book and how much the PCs could sell it for?

Lots to find, although I think that I'd quote Goblin Punch's advice here "have things to experiment with*". I think you could have got away with more to mess about with outside the workshop and potion room.  

*I always remember that after the event,"Shiny stuff to steal" is the easy one!

Maybe some of those other adventurers that tried to rob the place are still there...

It’s definitely something I need to keep in mind more. Cool stuff to grab is easier to toss in anywhere, but actual interactive bits tied to one or more locations takes more coherent thought but has a good payoff when players figure it out
