How exactly are you supposed to deal with the outside? It seems like once you start attracting the big wisps, there's no way to deal with them before you just die. And since the wisps don't despawn after a game over, you kind of just walk outside into death depending on how many are waiting for you.

The outside is only for much higher leveled players, and the particular wisps you ran into are difficult for even the end-game players.

But the problem you ran into where they chase after game over is unintended. I'll fix that in the next patch, thanks for telling me about those!

I had kinda figured that they were supposed to be difficult from the mention of the new ones in the update. But there's one of them that just murders you if you kill too many of them. They spawn RAPIDLY once you start killing them, and they vacuum right on top of you.
