few things:
- first try setting the permission to run, chmod +x

- run from terminal, perhaps it gives more info

- see if you have some antivirus or if it was quarantined

- try the windows version but run it with WINE (compatibility layer to run win apps on unix)

- try to run the executable directly from inside the mac 'executable' folder

Running with Wineskin is an option for me, but I would really like to minimize the number of 2 GB files sitting on my desktop and I only use it as a last resort.

I tried running chmod +x and then ran through the terminal. I got zsh: permission denied.

Then I tried using the open command and got 'LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10810 for the file'.

Checked Stack Exchange, and it seems like I might be able to run it in native Java/Python/C to avoid the error?

Ran ls -l to check folder permissions and got this:

drwxrwxr-x@ 9 *Censored for personal data* Contents

drwxrwxr-x@ 9 *Censored for personal data* Mods

-rw-rw-r--@ 1 *Censored for personal data* steam.appid.txt

hmm, at this point I am not sure if I can help, I didn't work with macs before so not sure what to do :(

Found the problem. There's no actual app.

That last file should be a Unix executable. I can't open it except in TextEdit. Ran chmod +x on this text file.

Booted right up, no problems that I can tell.
