Hi, this game looks neat, but I can't even see half of what's on screen:

I'm playing on Windows. During gameplay it's also hard to see the menu panel. All I can see is this resolution surrounded by black bars on each side of the screeen. The center of the field of view is also skewed sometimes when I start the game. Is there a way to adjust the position of the camera or the resolution?

If what you've posted is the actual full screenshot, then I don't have an explanation.  Likely something to do with how your graphics card is dealing with an older resolution.  You mention black bars on the sides, though, which I don't see in this shot, so I'm guessing the image you're posting isn't the sum total of what you're seeing.

The game runs at a fixed resolution of 1024 X 768.  While the game can run in full screen or windowed mode, that resolution can't be altered.  The original game was started when DOS was still the primary operating system, and even Caverns II was begun at a time when 4:3 monitors were more common than 16:9, and 1024 X 768, while not the highest resolution monitors of that sort were capable of, was still considered pretty damned hi-res...  If I could time travel, I'd alter it to something more common now, like 1920 X 1080, but alas.

So short answer - those aren't black bars.  There's just no screen there.  But as to why it's cropped if the above image is accurate to what you're seeing?  I have to guess it's your graphics card punching in for reasons I can't discern...  Let me know if you figure it out!

Hi, thank you for your time. My monitor displayed the game with black bars on the sides, but when I took the screenshot it only took the game screen for some reason. I'll try to see what I can do with my graphics card and I'll get back to you if I find anything.

Okay, I've somewhat maanged to circumvent the issue, by going into windowed mode and using a second monitor to move the game window a bit, since the title bar was stuck out of screen. It doesn't solve the issue itself, but at least I can play. I'll try to see if I can make it work in fullscreen.

Fascinating.  I hope it works out!
