Also, how can I recruit Leonard and Zephyr at the same time? Leonard asks for proof the monster is killed, but I have to leave the monster for later.

The “proof” Leonard asks for is not the monster tormenting Zephyr.
Instead, it refers to the horn of the monster you killed during the prologue.
You can obtain it by revisiting the prison cell where the protagonist was originally held!
