(THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE COMMENT, and I'm very sorry that my reply is so late... I was overwhelmed with a lot of things for the past couple months so I put answering comments on hold for a bit ๐ฅฒ)
I'm really happy that you noticed I made it in Godot ๐ I wanted to take advantage of the flexibility of the engine so I experimented with lots of different features (although I've swapped to Ren'py for most of my other games now ๐ฅฒ it's just so much easier to actually get games together)
I'm really glad that you enjoyed the Doctor and Yumeko's characterizations! I did try to make the Doctor a realistic but still rather unsympathetic person ๐ค I think a lot of the time misogyny can manifest out of a deep insecurity with yourself and discontent with the world in general, so you look for people to blame...
And yes, you caught on my intent exactly! There is no happy ending for Yumeko and the Doctor because Yumeko simply doesn't love him, she doesn't owe that to him, and nothing will change that. The Doctor can't convince her - only by erasing her "person" can the Doctor make her "love" him (or a facsimile of it).
๐๐๐ I absolutely feel you on that... I grew up reading a lot of shounen manga and it always bothered me how certain female characters whose personalities were mainly "the love interest" ๐
(AH you saw that one ๐ฆ I suppose it makes sense since it was left right before yours! I do appreciate everyone who takes the time to comment, even if it's not positive - sometimes stuff doesn't click with someone ๐ค but I do really appreciate you noticing and taking the time to leave your thoughts ๐ญ it was really so sweet of you! Comments are really one of the best things that a game dev can receive ๐ช๐ป they give me so much motivation for future projects ๐คญ)
DFGDFG I'M SO SORRY but I can't be very much help in that regard... I actually migrated from Unity to Godot, and I mostly used a variant of my Unity code, which was entirely custom-built (and way too buggy for me to share with anyone as a resource). However, I have heard that there are good dialogue managers for Godot - Dialogic and Dialogue Manager - and Rakugo Project is a plug-in that's designed around replicating the Ren'py format in Godot which seems to be well-organized! Other than that I just recommend reading the Godot documentation carefully and familiarizing yourself with how nodes and such should be organized - out of the different engines I've used, Godot is easily the best documented, if you have an idea of what you want to do!
