Artistic Statement / Use of Theme
Our game is a 2-D platformer with emphasis on the story. The theme of Natural and Unnatural disasters is implied with the goal of the story that we are not killing the earth, we are making it uninhabitable for humanity. Discovering a solution to human driven climate change is the biggest influence on the game.

Development Summary
We overscored our game initially, which required several adjustments throughout production to finish the game. We ended up cutting a lot of additional content in favor of adding some additional polish in the remaining weeks. The hardest part of our game to cut was the narrative, since we did have a larger story planned outside of the playable level.

Our team has a total of 10 members.

Release Plan
We are not currently planning on a release outside of itch.

This game has a lot of potential! The writing and art are great, and the world you've built is pretty convincing. I'd say the first thing you should do on if you continue working on this game is polish the game up in various ways. Make the title screen all pretty, make sure the gameplay looks and feels consistent, and that the player can't fall off the map in any scenario (I managed to do it by walking right after talking to the creature). With some polish, I think you could have a great game on your hands :)

What an interesting and heartfelt take on this challenge! The unique art style and thoughtful world‑building really bring Planet Pesto to life, and I love how you’ve woven themes of climate change and habitability into each platforming moment. The scanning mechanic feels full of promise, and a bit more polish would smooth out the experience overall. This feels like the start of something special, and I can’t wait to see where you take the story and mechanics next!

I thought the art style was really unique that was used in the game and how it worked with the mechanics. Game play has real potential, I would maybe slow it down just a little.

I think it would be interesting to see a continuation of this project and where it can lead!

I really enjoyed my playthrough of the current version!

I think the visuals and world building of your game really shine. The environments and characters were obviously all crafted with a lot of thought and love. And I think it does a wonderful job of being fantastical while also grounding its themes within reality.

The actual gameplay shows a ton of promise! Unfortunately I did have to reload a couple times on account of I.R.I.S completely disappearing during the platforming sections but other than that the platforming itself was fairly smooth. If you plan on continuing this project than I would also love to see how you expand on the scanning mechanic as I think the flavor text of the world and its characters is really strong thus far.

It was a wonderful time overall and I hope we get to see more of I.R.I.S and Planet Pesto!

The artstyle felt charming but a little all over the place. Also the platforming part felt a little rushed and not complete. I feel like if yall just made a visual novel instead of trying to make this into a game with platforming and interaction it would have worked in your favor.

But I did really like the character designs and the audio direction was certainly interesting! Good job!
