From today onwards I am boycotting Steam, I will no longer buy games there, itch.io needs to allow people to make payments with bitcoin

The issue is that they would only have to be able to accept bitcoin. Visa/MC/Payap have threatened to withold their services if hosting the games. So they would lose a major funding source. What needs to be done for US citizens is to contact your reps and ask for the Fair Banking Act to get passed. This prevents payment processors from making the choices of what we can spend money on.

Steam and itch.io aren't the problem. Visa, Mastercard, and Paypal are. Among other paypment processing companies. They're acting like the mafia and strong-arming these sites to remove content they dislike. Even though it's legal.

I just don't like the fact that these companies are starting to interfere with what or where I can or cannot spend my money, it's dystopian to the point of being scary.
