It's not the "site", its the payment processors (VISA, Mastercard, PayPal, etc) that are the real reason. Any site that is "friendly" will eventually be hit if they allow you to use Credit/Debit cards as a form of payment.
if they don't do transactions, content creators can't make money. i would assume, that creators are more upset they might not be able to sell their games on this site anymore.
currently this does affect non-monetized games as well, but everything is still in the early-stages.
