Oh this game made me tear up 😢
Of course I'm not familiar with the South American experience, but I do recognize a lot of the emotions present here in friends and acquaintances... people who are forced to leave the only place that they've ever known to go to someplace strange and unfamiliar because it's literally impossible to survive on the local salaries. I'm glad that Agustin doesn't seem to feel guilt, but at the same time it's still heartbreaking, having no choice but to leave his home and his parents and watching his life gradually fall apart as all his friends leave to seek better opportunities elsewhere. And even if the pay is better, you know that his hardships are only just beginning.
The art is really beautiful, I actually had to take a moment to admire the title screen. I especially love the dreamy, nostalgic colors of the background, and I appreciate how Agustin's colors are darker and more pronounced - somehow it gives him this feeling of otherness and sadness as he's contemplating leaving his home. One thing that I love is how the title screen took on a different meaning once the player reaches the end of the game, and you realize that Agustin isn't there anymore. The music is beautiful and wistful, and the VA did a fantastic job conveying Agustin's melancholy. The ATLs were also lovely and added a lot of liveliness to the game.
This was beautiful, fantastic work!
