I saw you mention Akasha elsewhere which is finally what made me get off my ass and read this, and it makes me want to watch all of these movies. Queen of the Damned is probably not good because really the only thing I remember is how hot Akasha is in it
Your memory's absolutely correct; the movie's pretty garbage every second Aaliyah's not on screen. But it has that certain flavor of self-conscious, unearned confidence especially prevalent in the late nineties/early 2000s that I find kinda comforting on a bad day. So very try-hard, so oddly nostalgic.
