I have both forms, and a handful glowstones, they don't seem affect it at all, and the game won't let me use faint glow shards. I even got the passive for the wolf form that I can see perfectly fine at night if that matters.

Oh wait, I should mention that the save is in the quest area, so if you need an earlier save I can grab one, though the closest one I would have to bring it up to speed a bit to have the quest.
