For some reason, Kona's games always feel like a warm blanket on a cold winter day 🤔 This was utterly adorable, from the story to the characters to the visuals. The color palette used is so bright and warm yet still Halloween-feeling, and the prose is really clean and easy to follow/read - a perfect match for the visuals. The game is so animated and polished as well??? (I was especially impressed by the animated credits sequences for the first and second endings!)
I really love how much animals are incorporated into Kona's games 😭 as an animal lover it always makes me feel so warm to see them, and all of the animals in this game are utterly adorable! The character designs are so cute too (I really want both Pippa and Ms Ester's dresses, ngl). I was surprised by the money/magic mechanic, but it was very clever, and I found it fun to try to balance them (alas I was foiled on my first runthrough because I couldn't resist giving Pippa the cherry pie she asked for...)
I wasn't sure what to expect from the storyline, but I was surprisingly really touched by the themes of acceptance and found family/friendship - it was very well done without ever feeling too heavy, and the second ending really made me go "aww 🥹"
Overall this was so adorable and fun, fantastic work!
