This story made my heart squeeze in a very good way 🥲🥲🥲
Vance and Carmelo's dynamic is so adorable and sweet... they play off each other in a very natural "polar opposites but somehow perfect for each other" way. Carmelo's outward affection is a good balance for Vance's kind of prickly exterior, while Vance's blunt straightforwardness makes up for Carmelo's inability to speak his mind. At the same time, they're both very protective of each other, and they clearly care for each other a great deal (which is perfect because almost everyone else is out to get them, apparently...)
One thing that I really appreciated is how alive the setting and characters felt. Even though the story itself is rather short, there are so many details about the characters and setting that are added that make them feel like they fully exist outside of this little "snippet" where we see them. At the same time, I never really felt confused by what was happening - the writer included just enough detail to add context without overwhelming the player with information.
======SPOILERS=====
While I'm not surprised that they eloped from their hometown, it does make me a little sad to know that they couldn't find acceptance there. Still, that shot of the title screen legitimately took my breath away - the CG is beautiful and really gives a feeling of liberation as they're finally freed from the oppressive social constraints and expectations that they're trapped in.
While the story feels very complete as is, I am curious to see what happens to these two now (the ending really gave off a "their story is just beginning" feel to it!) Fantastic work!
