In this game deck means all of your cards: Hand, Draw pile, and Discard pile.
Hand means the cards currently in your hand (the ones face up).
Draw pile is the cards you draw from.
Discard pile is the cards you discard after playing them.
Deck means all of the above.
So a card like DEADLIFT (Gain 7 for each Sturdy in your deck), will count every Sturdy no matter where it is.
However, Sturdy only works if it is in your Hand (face up).
Deckbuilders can sometimes be a bit convoluted, and Sturdy is not a very intuitive mechanic, some things aren't for everyone.

so just proving me right then assuming stuff. i never said DECKBUILDERS aren't for me and since you want me to be hyper specific it was in my hand and guess what? it didn't work. and your game isn't every deckbuilding game in the universe never will be.
