I am (probably) going to sound crazy, which is perfectly normal for me, but I think this game turned out well! The gameplay is a little sluggish, but you can dash around the screen and evade attacks easily. It would have been nicer if the knight didn't look like he was stuttering the entire time, but fortunately the enemies do not move too quickly, either. The boss fight felt a bit creative, for sure.
I am looking at the graphics and thinking, yeah, sure it LOOKS like an MS Paint job, but you have a strong consistency throughout it, you are using the right sort of colours and there are enough spots without detail that this 'could' work as base tile data, so I would say, "Yeah, this 'can' feel like an NES game". Audio is another matter, but no one is perfect.
For a 2-week game. You did alright. Seriously, you did! Take some pride in this accomplishment.
Notes:
- Dang those skeleton arrows have a HUGE collision box.
- Some room 'exits' do nothing.
- Would be nice if there was a way to heal besides leveling up.
- Bonus Point: You can max the screen to actually 'see' what is going on! :)
- Bonus Point: Your evolution system serves it's purpose well by leveling up what you can actually use in gameplay.
