Hey there team, I wanted to reach out to let you know that this submission is going to be disqualified from the jam.

As the team with the most ratings & the least amount of karma in the entire jam — and with the comments section looking pretty suspicious, to say the least —  it really doesn’t feel like this entry was submitted in the spirit of the PPJJGG game jam.

The game is really nicely done, and I wish you all the best on future projects!  🙏

Unfortunately though, it doesn’t feel like this submission is a good fit for the PPJJGG this year.   Sorry again, and all the best.

Dear Kevin,

Thank you for reaching out.

I’m the leader of our team, which is composed of enthusiastic high school and middle school students who are passionate about game development. After we submitted our game, we invited many of our classmates to play it and share their feedback. We’ve continued to work on improving the game and hope to release future updates.

I sincerely apologize for not staying engaged after our submission on June 1st. Beginning on June 2nd, I participated in a rigorous summer camp program at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), which has kept me extremely busy. As a result, I was unable to follow the jam’s progress or interact with the community as much as I had hoped.

This was our first time joining a game jam. Our main goal was to learn, grow, and gain experience from this opportunity. While the disqualification is disappointing, we completely respect your decision and appreciate the chance to have taken part in the PPJJGG Game Jam.

Thank you again for organizing such a meaningful and inspiring event. We’ve learned a lot from this experience and look forward to participating in future jams.

Warm regards,
Pai Zheng

Thanks so much for the thoughtful reply, Pai!  I had a feeling this was the case, and I have decided to re-instate the game to the jam.

I have a feeling that your numbers may be a little inflated in the end, but at the end of the day, the reason you guys are here is exactly the reason why we wanted to start this jam — simply to bring people that are passionate about making games together, to make fun, cool & creative projects!  I took a look, and quite a few of their friends that commented on the game also clearly played some of the other entries, so I believe it was all done in good faith.

If you do end up winning the jam, I will likely notate the game as an "honorable mention" on the jam page, but will default to the next  games in line as the "winners" (even though there are no prizes) on the PPJJGG game jam home page.

We are really happy that you all decided to jam with us, and really think you made a super fun game that has a lot of potential!  Can't thank you enough for sending over such a thoughtful reply!  :D
