This is the absolute closest AVN in quality to Eternum I've found, the thing that I like most about this game is funnily enough the main character, this is the only AVN I've played where the main character is as interesting as the other characters. Usually the mc in these games is some skinny dude with the same haircut, unless you're Eternum, but in this case, the mc is actually good looking, has a really cool look, and is generally just a likeable character. Which is uncommon for AVN's, usually the main lead is some hornball who can't keep his dick in his pants, where as this character, as well as a result of the way dialogue works in this game, allows you to be a normal guy who doesn't wanna fuck anything with a pair of boobs. You can choose to be kind to the entire cast, without being forced into fucking them, I find a lot of AVN's force you to either be an asshole, and if you don't want to be, now you're being nice, and being nice leads to sex. Thankfully this game doesn't have that problem. The writing is also very well done, the characters are interesting and likeable, all unique. The visuals are also very well done, the style in my opinion isn't quite as pretty as Eternum, but it's damn good, and fits the aesthetic of the game better, which in this case is like a mix of Cyberpunk 2077 and Star Wars, it's really damn cool. A few other things I appreciate is the codex, I absolutely adore the codex and the lore you can acquire in this game, it's really uncommon to see in an AVN, but much appreciated, I read every bit they give me. This also leads me into another strong suit. The world of this game is absolutely amazing, unique lore for everything as I was saying before, the world feels like it has history, with interesting races, factions, the criminal world, all of it. Another thing I appreciate about this game, is the ability to choose your personality in dialogue. With its colored system you can choose to be positive, witty, or aggressive, personally in my run I've been going almost exclusively witty, and it's been a blast. This system with its coloring, also allows you to CHOOSE who you want to be intimate with, personally when I play AVN's I typically only end up finding 1 or 2 characters attractive, and I don't want to see NSFW scenes with characters I don't find attractive. The pink coloring for flirty choices allows you to avoid fucking everything, and pick who you like, while if you don't choose the pink option, you can still be a good friend to characters without taking it further. Now on to one of my favorite things about this game, it's humor, the humor of this game is an absolute joy, probably on par with Eternum, this game is genuinely hilarious, particularly with the ridiculous death scenes you can get. The romance of characters is quite well done, it's not Eternum level, but it's damn good, the pacing is quite good, the NSFW scenes are all good, nothing Eternum level, but they're up there. The music is also very good when it plays, my only real beef with this game is the lack of music at times, as I said, when it plays it's very good, better then most AVN's, but their will be times where the game is just completely silent, which isn't exactly my favorite thing, I usually like a little background music in these games. Other then that, this game is an absolute blast, and I look forward to continuing it. Again, closest AVN to Eternum I've played, absolutely worth the $10 dollars for season 1 and 2, would recommend purchasing, but if you're not ready for the full game, you can play the first 4 (I think) chapters free of charge.
I find that to be entirely unreasonable, each AVN has its strengths and weaknesses, goals and plans. They each strive to do different things. For example, Divine Dawn and Genex Love, they're both very different styles of games to Eternum. They set out to do completely different things, I don't play AVN's to play an RPG, I don't play them to customize characters. I play them for a good story, and well written attractive characters. That's effectively all I look for. I find Eternum, for what I'm looking for, does that best. Now you may not personally enjoy that as much, and I understand the point behind plot not having many meaningful choices. But how long do you suppose that would take one guy to do? Each update takes around 6 months as you've said, with Caribdis working tirelessly (I find it ridiculous that people judge AVN devs on how long each update takes, I've found some of your comments on that quite distasteful) but I digress on that front. Lets suppose Eternum had choices like that scattered about, that would add so much unnecessary time to the development cycle. The choice in Eternum is limited, yes. But it has to be for the level of quality that it is. Lets say Nova did reset, what needs to happen now? Well every time she shows up, or it's brought up, their now needs to be separate dialogue EVERY time that it's even mentioned, do you realize how ridiculous that would be to manage? Eternum has a good story because of what it does with the borrowed concept, and how it's portrayed, nobody is saying that the concept itself is unique. The worlds within the concept, the places you go, how it's presented, the characters within it. That is what gives Eternum a good story, a twist on a classic. I'm not going to continue this argument further, because I can immediately tell what kind of individual you are, and how that would go. "But then a lot of people ate tide pods too... " do you hear yourself? Do you realize how asinine this sounds? There are people who've played 100's of AVN's, and have done so for years, and they to this day make posts about how Eternum is still the best they've played. How do you rationalize this? Are they stupid for thinking Eternum was the best they've played?
And yet you're the one who chose to reply to me. "But in the future please keep in mind that not everyone likes the things you like or thinks the way you do." That was a point I made in what I had just said. "Then keep your preferences to yourself." What an absolutely ridiculous thing to say, lol. Anyways, you like what you like, I like what I like, as long as you acknowledge you're in the minority, I was honestly surprised to see someone say something negative about Eternum. You don't really see that often.
"Or you can accept that when you comment on something you open yourself for criticism. Thats what I do." When did I complain about criticism? Lol, we had a disagreement, I don't agree with your opinion, you don't agree with mine. Anyways, that's the last thing I wanted to comment on, have a nice day. Try and maybe be a little less of an a-hole in the future friend.
It is indeed really sad that your criteria to an AVN being "that bad" is having no rpg elements or some plot hole, disregarding absolutely everything else the game does right.
Me and a lot of other people for example couldn't give two fcks about character creation or combat in a story driven game, like dude
Do you realize how subjectively nitpicky that statement is?
Do you realize you are saying people lost the discussion by insulting you, when the first thing you did on the thread (a positive thread, btw), was insulting the hard work of someone?
Im not even taking into account how many people on this site love the work u insulted btw, just the mere disrespect of thinking it would be worth to degrade something that someone obviously like in their own appreciation thread.
I wont even going to go on about how wtfcky your arguments/criteria were in terms of defining "good" art, just pointing how objectively wrong u made yourself along all this
Also, if you really do think you were "criticising", you should check what that means, because everything you pointed was subjective bs.
If you are going to criticise something at least be constructive with objective arguments.
Saying something is bad because it doesnt have your own random specific needs and tastes that no one else in the world cares is not critising, is being irrational.
You both are talking nonsense : ) The preference of games is according to the taste and desires of the people..! The only thing that should be focused on in every game is not the story.!! The main basis of most games is sex scenes, many games use this but many games can do this more flawlessly. For example, adding sound to the scenes and making them feel!!!
