I love your work!! ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
I have a question—if I have a game that's free but I accept voluntary donations, would that count as a commercial project by your standards?
Thank you so much ^-^ <3 and sorry I'm a bit slow to reply >.<
To answer your question, I'd say that, personally, I would still count that as non-commercial :3
Cos all my games are free but accept donations, and I've always considered my projects to be non-commercial, so it would be hypocritical of me if I thought otherwise when it comes to other people's stuff, haha.
When I got in touch with Citizens Advice in the UK to get some help understanding what counts as commercial or not when it comes to the law, they told me that if I'm not charging money to download my games, then they're non-commercial.
So I've always gone by that! He said that accepting donations is a whole different thing because people can download the game for free, and they're not forced to donate, so it wouldn't be considered income since it's entirely up to each individual as to whether they donate or not.
I think the main reason I mentioned different terms for commercial projects is just cos if someone's gonna be intentionally making money from selling a project, it would just suck a bit if they were using free assets and the asset creators get nothing even though their creations are being utilised.
And also, if it's a commercial project, they're likely to want to sell the whole project's OST as a bonus download or something, so again, it would just kinda suck if they essentially sold my music without giving me any sort of compensation >.<
But yeah, I'm sorry I rambled so much there!
If you wanted to use any of the stuff from this pack for a free game that accepts donations, that's totally fine with me :3 Heck, I'd just be happy if any of the music happens to fit your project :D
Good luck with everything!! ^-^
