From the wiki:

Respect is a hard-earned value which determines whether your servants see you as a worthy leader or just as the person who happens to be hiring or owning them. It is most readily increased in NPCs if they are with you in a fight in which you successfully defeat enemies. Successfully managing certain dangerous events might also increase Respect. As can just talking with NPCs.

Certain rare events might lower Respect, but it's a stable value that doesn't naturally change over time.

Respect boosts all Domination and Charm attempts. An NPC is more likely to participate in sexual intercourse or do as you command (even if they don't like it) if their Respect for you is high.

How to increase Respect

  • Through combat encounters, per battle won. 100% chance of +1, up to a value of 20, then 7% chance of +1, up to a cap of 50.
  • Through certain domestic events, including talking to an NPC and asking them how they are. This can produce a variety of effects, one of them being increasing their respect for you by 1 point (smallish chance).
  • Through certain quest events tied to a specific NPC.

I know what the Wiki says, I'm curious if there is a more efficient way. Not trying to be rude, I thank you for trying to assist. The specific situation is that Mai Lynn's pacifist trait lowers her happiness every time she's in battle, and after she get's 20, if I keep grinding battles, she could utterly hate me by the time I get her to at least 30 respect. That leaves talking which doesn't guarantee a point, meaning I may be save scumbing for a while. I'm trying to be efficient with my resources, and other house members so I was asking if there is anything besides fighting, and talking? Maybe like a date event? I've already beaten the black scorpions and helped her dad.

No worries.

Mai Lynn is a tough cookie. She is a pain to deal with before we rescue her father (depressed). But after that, I haven't given her much though. She's very good at gardening and that is it. Helps a lot with the food.

If you ain't afraid to spend money, if you marry her with an epic wedding it's +5 respect. I'd recommend combat to level 20 so you don't have to spend so much money, then marry her, divorce, power leveling her affection with the affinity spell, and then marry her a second time if you don't want her affected by another having the "first wife" title.
