I ended up crafting a Combiner, an Enhancer, and a Light those were the three most advanced items I managed to make.
oh nice, thats definitely the right direction. if you do play the game again, try interacting with the zombie corpses [E] and use the resulting block for combinations. that might be the missing part for you.
