You are 100% correct, thanks for bringing this to my attention! Somehow that feature broke a while ago, and I've now fixed it (a year after your comment lmao)
Rest assured 🪱 WORM MODE 🪱 is now fully unlockable in the game (although your high score will most likely have been reset with the update, sorry about that!)
