Objectively wrong, you were complaining about file puke, I gave you two ways to contain it the first preemptively (extract to a new folder), the second automatically (use the itch app). The second of which will also auto updates the game for you.
Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's bad/dumb. When I manually manage files I put them in a '<game>/<version>/' directory structure. The advantages of this is it's easy to version shift, fixed bricked installs, mod games, and keeps the archives all organized.
Most of the time I use tools that just manage the files for me( itch app, steam, etc.) only doing it manually when I start modding, speedrunning, or want to use a program that I need to build myself.

but the main lesson for you to learn here is that, like dude above pointed out, this really was not a big deal, i was simply warning ppl that they would need to solve the devs problem for him. and it wasnt a very big deal until you dev-blowing losers turned up to swing on the devs cock.

also i disagree with you - putting the contents of an archive into a folder is redundant because the archive a container itself already. it also theoretically makes extracting files loosely more annoying if they're already in a folder (although that is probably also solved by software at this point lol)
it really is just a preference, so find a way that works the best for you. that's why there are as many different programs and that's why they all have various configuration options - to give people options. i found a solution for me and haven't had to think about how my files are unzipping for years now lol
regardless of how you handle the archives, though, keep arguing, because its a fun read and im enjoying
a zip folder is not a container folder, a zip folder disappears after unzipping.
a container folder gets unzipped and becomes the "game folder".

I'm not sure what you have set up differently, but when I unzip a folder, it keeps the zipped one while making a unzipped copy in the same location with the only difference in names being ".Zip" at the end, I wish you the best of luck on trying to find out why your pc is deleting the zip folder automatically and somehow getting a mess of files, for clarification I'm on windows 10 and am using the default extract feature, good luck.

also the linux version of 7zip has a command line option to "eliminate duplication of root folder for extract command" or skip the top dir if it only contains one dir. It's probably on windows too, but I wouldn't know where to look for it.
