Fleeing Combat

On page 39, it states in order to flee a combat you roll 2d6 and add your Wits.  If you roll equal to or lower than the enemies DS the combat ends.  Otherwise the enemy attacks.  Given wits is added, it seems like the test should be equal to or greater than the DS?  Is the text a typo or is it intended to be equal to or lower and your Wits score actually penalizes you?  Thanks!

Companions - Wizard

Just confirming. Does the Wizard give you +2 W or +2M.  I could see it go either way but the books says +2W.  If it is +2W as written, if I'm a human guardian with a wizard companion, then I could never use Greater Power as I would not be able to learn any spells as my Magic would be +0.  Is that right?

Locations

Just a nit but the table on page 24 shows the following:
1-3: Gain 2 Tracks

4-5: Draw 1 being

5: Draw 1 Thing and gain 1 Track

I think the final "5" should be a 6.

Fleeing is equal to or less than. The intention is that stronger enemies have higher DS, making them easier to run from. Wits can only ever go to +3 (the max for stats), so on average the player would be rolling 7 (d6 result) plus 3, for 10. At a DS of 10, these are the "harder" level enemies.

The Wizard companion gives +2 Wits. Greater Power could be used as the player can attempt to cast their Magic +2 total Spells in a Quest (page 40). I never wanted to lock-out players from the magic system.

Thank you for finding the wrong number! I'll be sure to make note and edit it.

Makes sense with one follow up!  My point on the Wizard is that I read it that the max number of spells you can cast per quest is Magic + 2 (pg 40), so minimum of two spells.

However, to determine which spells they can "memorize or choose" per quest, it appears that is "up to" their Magic stat (pg 41).  Unless there is a minimum of one I took this to mean if my Magic stat was zero then I couldn't choose any spells.

Maybe a houserule would be a minimum of 1?

Thanks again for being patient with my questions!

I like the idea of a minimum 1 Spell. Good call!

You're welcome. I try my best to get clarifications out to players.
