so question I got R3 and played it, wasn't realm 1 & 2 included or do I have to get that separately?

Hello - Realms 1 & 2 are included with your purchase here. If you look through the files available for download, you'll notice that Realm 1/2 is a separate download from Realm 3. Let me know if you're unable to locate it. Thanks!

Sorry if I'm hijacking the original question...

How does that work? I buy 1 & 2, download it, and install/play it.

If I download 3 then, can I install it over 1 & 2 and then have all three chapters together?

Hmmm... eight days gone and no answer. So I count is as no...

Hey there - sorry I missed your comment.

All three chapters are not in the same game; Realm 3 is effectively another game, where you can import your save from Realms 1 & 2 into Realm 3. You can have them all installed at the same time, but Realm 3 cannot be downloaded within the same file as Realm 1 & 2. I hope that answers your question?

No problem

Not really...

I'm not a native English speaker, but if you say that each part is a separate game and therefore I have to create multiple physical folders for each part, even though, according to your statement, I can import the save game from 1 & 2 into 3, then that doesn't make sense to me...

All games of this type that I've encountered so far are extracted to the same folder when a sequel (a new chapter) is released. From there, you can simply access the last save and play the update.

It seems to be different here. Unfortunately, you haven't answered exactly how or why these are three independent games with the same name.

Apologies if I confused things for you there.

  • Your purchase entitles you to all currently available episodes of the game (1, 2 & 3). We use the words "episode" and "realm" to mean the same thing here.
  • Episodes 1 & 2 are included in the download file named "The Seven Realms - Realm 1 & 2 (v0.21)". You play through these first, and at the end, a screen will appear, prompting you to create an "Export Save File" that you will then be able to "Import" when you begin Episode 3.
  • Episode 3 is included in the download file named "The Seven Realms - Realm 3 (R3-v1.02)"
  • When launching Episode 3, you click the button "Import Game", and your Exported Save File will display, and your choices will move across to Realm 3.
  • If you are playing on a PC or Mac, the games are automatically downloaded into two different folders. "TheSevenRealms" and "TheSevenRealms-R3"
  • If you are playing on Android, downloading Realm 3 after Realms 1 & 2 will overwrite the folder where Realms 1 & 2 are stored, but the save Export/Import I explained above will work the same.
  • The reason Realm 3 overwrites the Realm 1 & 2 games is to allow the save export to work seamlessly for players without the need for extra steps. We separated Realm 3 from Realms 1 & 2 as we made various improvements, such as overhauling the user interface, and many players (particularly on Android) requested we do it this way so the game doesn't take up as much space on their device.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need anything further clarified.

That was a detailed and helpful explanation. Thank you very much for that.

That explains a lot. Perhaps this explanation should be made publicly available in the Q&A. Because other interested parties are surely asking this question as well.
